Get coaching for tough conversations
Scenario: You've got to ask a colleague to do more - without blowing up the relationship.
These are the moments we all dread. You're working on a shared project. You're carrying the load. And your colleague… isn't. You know you need to say something. But how do you do it without sounding like you're picking a fight?
In this task you'll use AI to rehearse what you want to say, anticipate how it might land, and get advice on how to handle it well - even if the conversation gets tricky.
What you'll learn
- How to use AI to test and refine your approach to a sensitive conversation
- How to roleplay and adapt your responses in real time
- How to get coaching on tone, clarity and confidence - before you go live
Step 1 - Start with the scenario
I have a call later today with a colleague who hasn't been pulling their weight on a joint project. I need to ask them to take on more, but I want to avoid sounding confrontational. Can you help me prepare what to say?
This alone can help you draft your opening, test some wording, or find the right tone to start with.
⬆️ Level up 1 - Roleplay the conversation
Let's do a simulation. You play the role of my colleague, who's defensive and insists they've been doing their share. I'll type what I want to say, and you respond as them.
This helps you practise the real conversation - not just plan your side of it. And because it's just AI, you can try different tones: calm, direct, apologetic, assertive. No risk. No judgement.
⬆️ Level up 2 - Ask for coaching
Now switch roles. Based on our exchange, can you give me advice on how to handle this better? What could I say to stay calm, be clear, and avoid making things worse?
This turns the AI from actor to advisor.
⬆️ Optional Level up 3 - Give your coach role expertise
Act like a workplace coach who specialises in difficult conversations.
